What is Beyond Production? Launched during the 2021 edition of Artissima and supported by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT, it is a three-year conceptual platform created to foster new reflections, year after year, on the most innovative trends of contemporary art, with the goal of investigating how they relate to the art market, the production of works, the research of artists and the role of galleries.

In its third episode, curated by Ilaria Bonacossa, director of the Museo Nazionale dell’Arte Digitale – MNAD of Milano, Beyond Production presents Symposium and generates dialogue between artists, innovators, collectors and experts on intellectual property and legal issues related to art, discussing the impact of new technologies. One characteristic ingredient of the platform is the critical viewpoint on Artificial Intelligence, which will be utilized in the assessment of the contents of the symposium, with the objective of responding to the question that enlivens the current debate: is AI an ally, a substitute or an enemy?

alia

Alia is an artificial entity developed by the department of Deep Learning and Big Data of Alkemy Spa and driven by the services of OpenAI, stemming from collaboration with the Museo Nazionale dell’Arte Digitale – MNAD of Milano and the MEET Digital Culture Centre of Milano.
Alia will be involved in the discussions at the conference, supporting the mediators of the symposium in the review of the contents as a live “smart” panel. It will be questioned regarding various themes during the talk held at Artissima 2023.

The partners

Beyond Production Symposium is coordinated by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT together with Artissima, which has developed the project by relying on extremely credible and expert players in their respective sectors. Alkemy Spa, a company specialized in the digital transformation of businesses, will provide the artificial entity Alia, to reprocess the subject matter discussed during the symposium. The graphic design and the implementation of the digital project for the final review, on the other hand, are overseen by Artshell, an Italian company that offers innovative technological solutions for the art system, and has been a long-term partner of Beyond Production.

Previous episodes

In 2021 Beyond Production presented Surfing NFT, a project created in collaboration with the technical partners Artshell and Studio legale LCA to focus on the investigation of a phenomenon that had begun to enliven the current debate in that year: NFTs and their relationship with contemporary art, its value chain and its market.
In 2022, with the chapter concentrating on the Metaverse, titled METAmorphosis, Beyond Production delved into this complex phenomenon in collaboration with the technical partners Artshell, LCA Studio Legale and REVIBE – Metaverse Experience Factory, to shed light on the potentialities and limits, formulating a critical and educational vision for art world professionals and an audience of curious observers.
